In response to Daytrana Patch posted by mickey369:
I have sent my e-mail to the CEO and let him know a little of what is discussed here about "techniques" that can be applied to get this thing ON your child. I told him it was ridiculous and asked when they plan to address the problem. I suggest everyone here do the same.....the more the merrier.

You have no idea how glad I am to see your post. I have a 7 yr old son on the patch. It has been working wonderfully. The ONLY problem we were having was removing them from the backing. But, now his latest box is a cinch to remove. And of course, too good to be true. Because he started showing awful skin irritation too! His pediatrician said to apply Eucerin, or Aquaphor, but it is only helping to heal the irritation, not prevent it. I am worried that we'll have to switch his meds again. How long do you hang in there, and wait for the manufacturer to fix this?? I'd much rather wrestle with the backing every day than see my son's skin being mauled. What now? "sigh"...

Avoid taking MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within 2 weeks before or after treatment with this medication. In some cases, a serious (possibly fatal) drug interaction may occur. If you are currently using any of these medications, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting this medication.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: "blood thinners" (e.g., warfarin), clonidine, guanethidine, drugs that can increase blood pressure (e.g., epinephrine, phenylephrine), anti-seizure drugs (e.g., phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone), tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., imipramine, desipramine), SSRI antidepressants (e.g., fluoxetine, sertraline), other stimulant medications (e.g., amphetamines).
Also report the use of drugs which might increase seizure risk (decrease seizure threshold) when combined with methylphenidate such as bupropion, isoniazid (INH), phenothiazines (e.g., thioridazine), or theophylline, among others. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for details.
Check the labels on all your medicines/herbal products (e.g., cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase your heart rate or blood pressure (e.g., pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine, ephedra/ma huang). Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of these products.

Hi, My son is also 16, he has been on aderall, mededate cd and concerta, we are having a hell of a time with these patches, I think we wasted 5 or 6 before we got them to work , good thing it was free to try because I was livid about the way they had to be fought with to put on, my son complains of stomach aches, and he has irritation from the patch, once in a while he gets the raised rash that you mentioned above, He is on 20 mg, but the doctor wants him up to 30mg , the problem I am having is the 30 mg patch is huge, so my son is fighting me on that. he also had to shave his hip area to use the patch, I don't know if these patches are a help or just adds to the problems. do you have a problem with the adhesive goo that is left behind when you take the patch off? and if so what do you use to take it off? Here is an Idea if you want to try, I set the patch in the freezer for about 30-40 secs, and it makes it come off the plastic alot easier. does anyone have the number to call about the daytrana for complaints?
I have to say though , the patch does work once you get past the fighting to get it off the plastic and on the body, and then the rash and the adhesive residue. any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
