In response to Daytrana posted by adhdmomx2:Also, it sounds like you do have bad batches. I just got a refill and every other patch has been difficult. A bit of the adhesive in the middle just wants to stay with the backing. I still use the "faulty" patches because the edges seem to be okay, not much adhesive is missing, and the dose does not seem to to be affected.
Another post mentioned cards for free prescriptions if you contact the Daytrana makers. Think I may try that. It doesn't solve the aggravation, but it helps the pocketbook. I'm also considering requesting the 10-packs because everyone seems to have less trouble with those. Have you tried putting them in the refrigerator for ten minutes?
Hang in there adhdmomx2.
As a side note, does anyone know what happens if you store the patches in the refrigerator all the time?

» premedstudent - The SURE FIRE way to remove backing!
In response to Daytrana posted by maria32955:
I had a hellacious time removing the backing. I tried several tips on this website. None worked flawlessly, each time. I came up with my own solution, that does work, every time. It is as follows:
Place in the fridge for ten minutes. Take the corner of one half and scrape about 2 millimeters of the sticky adhesive off the backing using tweezers or a fingernail. Next, take hold of the corner's tip and vigorously pull up on it a tiny bit, progressing the span of separation of the adhesive and backing by roughly the distance of three to five millimeters. Next by holding the tip of the corner, push back down and pull up again. This must be done precisely, and in a continues quick repetitive fashion until the backing is completely removed! That is all! It IS this simple.
If you can comprehend what I am having a hard time explaining, this will remove the backing without losing a single bit of adhesive. Every time.

» mj22345 - nausea and headaches
Now, he has been on the patch for nearly a month. At least once a week he has developed a headache and/or stomachache by about 7 p.m. I attributed this to the days he had forgotten to take his patch off until about an hour past the time he should have.
Today, however, he called me when he got home and said he felt sick on the bus. He took his patch off about an hour before he needed to and said he felt better. Then, he called me about 30 minutes later and said he was feeling sick to his stomach again.
We don't give him his medication on the weekends. I am wondering if this could be causing the problem?
Has anyone else experienced this type of situation with Daytrana?

To all those as frustrated as my wife and I, may I recommend an email to the CEO of Shire Inc., the manufacturer of Datrana at dpevans@us.shire.com [his name is Matthew Emmens]. I'm sure that after a large number of emails hit his inbox, a competent executive such as himself will do the right thing.

We keep the patch on seven days a week. We gave him, our five YO, a "day off" early on in the trial and the next day he was very lethargic.
Now he wears it everyday although on the weekend he might only wear it 6-7 hours.
Other than a lack of appetite, which he regains just before bedtime, it's been a godsend.
